A Safe Place for Children.
A Healing Path for Families.
A Community Response to Provide Hope.

Under one roof — forensic interviews, medical care, family advocacy, and trauma-informed mental health. One coordinated response. One goal: protect children. Help them heal.

🔒

Referral-only access. CAC services are available through referral by Law Enforcement or the Department of Social Services (DSS). If your family has been referred — or you are a professional making a referral — call us at (910) 938-0336. We are ready immediately.

One coordinated team means children aren’t passed from office to office, repeating the hardest words of their life.

Forensic Interviews

Children Tell Their Story

Conducted by specialists trained to talk with children in a calm, developmentally appropriate way. Children don’t have to repeat their story over and over — they tell it as few times as possible to limit the trauma, in a safe room, with care and respect.

Child Medical Examinations

Non-Invasive, Child-Centered Medical Care

Non-invasive, child-centered medical care that reassures children, helps them understand their whole bodies are healthy, and helps them feel safe in their own bodies again.

Advocates stay beside every caregiver from the very first moment

Family Advocacy

No Caregiver Navigates This Alone

Our advocates stay beside caregivers from the very first moment, offering calm guidance when everything feels overwhelming. They explain what happens next, provide emotional support, and help families navigate systems that often feel confusing or intimidating. They make sure families are connected to the services they need — and they never have to face any of it alone.

On-Site Mental Health Care

Healing Can’t Wait

For children evaluated at our Child Advocacy Center, trauma-informed clinicians are right here, ready to step in the moment a child is ready to talk — so support begins before they ever leave the building. Every child evaluated at the CAC has access to on-site, evidence-supported therapy delivered by trauma-trained clinicians — including approaches like Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI), a short-term therapy shown to reduce trauma symptoms and prevent the development of PTSD.

When a child walks into our Child Advocacy Center, they’re met by a team working in the same building, around the same table — each with a specific role. So the child is surrounded by protection, not bureaucracy.

Protecting Childhood Before Harm Happens

Child Abuse Prevention
& Intervention

Every child deserves a life free from abuse and neglect. But prevention isn’t passive. It takes education, awareness, strong families, and a community that knows how to act. And when harm does happen, children deserve a response that’s swift, expert, and grounded in care.

⚠️
Every Person in NC is a Mandated Reporter

If you have reason to suspect a child is being abused or neglected, the law requires you to report it to your county Department of Social Services — under N.C. General Statute § 7B-301, every person in our state is a mandated reporter. One Place helps our community understand that responsibility, recognize the signs, and feel confident taking action when something doesn’t seem right.

Strengthening Families — The Five Protective Factors

One Place strengthens families through five research-backed protective factors shown to reduce the risk of abuse and neglect:

1
Parental Resilience

Managing stress and bouncing back from challenges

2
Social Connections

Surrounding families with people who show up

3
Knowledge of Parenting & Child Development

Confident, informed, empowered caregiving

4
Concrete Support in Times of Need

Child care, basic resources, and someone to call

5
Social & Emotional Competence of Children

So kids can name feelings, form healthy relationships, and ask for help when something doesn’t seem right

One Place also has a dedicated Child Trafficking Coordinator who provides specialized support for young survivors of child sex trafficking — working alongside law enforcement, advocates, and mental health clinicians.
