One Place is excited to share that Bethany Esau, Child Care Resource & Referral Coordinator, has been chosen as a Rootle Ambassador by PBS North Carolina. This program builds on the CPB-PBS Ready to Learn Community Collaboratives for Early Learning & Media Initiative to support children and families with early learning.
The Rootle Ambassador Program celebrates the impact that local educators, parents, caregivers, and community leaders can have within the early childhood education space. Rootle Ambassadors, like Bethany, are community members who support families of young learners.
Each ambassador serves as a leader in their community—connecting PBS KIDS and early learning resources to children and families, providing access to new training and experiences and building a stronger community.
The Rootle Ambassador Program was launched in 2021. Over the next five years, the program will expand to reach all 100 counties in the state of North Carolina.
Since 2016, Bethany has supported children and families as part of the Child Care Resource & Referral team at One Place where she now serves as coordinator. Her new ambassadorship is the perfect complement to her daily work, connecting children and families to critical resources.
As a Rootle Ambassador, Bethany’s role is designed to help kids in Onslow County receive the support and tools they need to thrive. Over her tenure, she’ll build relationships with other early childhood professionals in the community, attend and facilitate events, and connect with families.
For Bethany, there is a strong connection between PBS and One Place: “Everything that PBS KIDS does is geared toward young children, focusing on their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development—it’s everything that One Place stands for.”
“I was really excited about the opportunity because it sounded like a great fit,” Bethany says. “I grew up watching PBS—so now that I’m able to share it with our Onslow County community is a full circle moment.”
