The New Year is filled with promise and possibility!
We all decide that we will eat better, exercise more, try harder. Sometimes we succeed. Sometimes we fail. The great news is, it’s never too late to make a resolution for yourself or your family!
What makes the difference?
1. Knowing why it’s important helps. It’s hard to commit to something if you don’t see what the relevant benefits are.
2. Making your new goal a habit takes time. Most people agree that it takes at least three weeks to adapt to a new habit.
3. Having what you need to accomplish your new goal is vital. If you don’t have what you need, it’s tough to do what you need to.
So what am I going to ask you to commit to as your New Year’s Resolution?
Read with your child 20 minutes every day!
1. We know that reading with your child every day is the single biggest indicator of a child’s success in school. There’s our “why”!
2. We know that if you commit to daily reading for a month, you will be building that habit. There’s our “how”!
3. And we can supply the materials you need through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Story Walk at the Parks, and Little Free Libraries. That’s our “with what”!
We can do this together.
We can create a generation of readers who will change the world!
Please make your New Year’s Resolution to spend 20 minutes a day reading with your child!!
Happy Reading!
