Thanks to the support from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, more children and families will be connected to essential resources in Onslow County. We’re pleased to announce the receipt of a $5,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to help improve the lives of children and families by connecting them with high-quality resources for child care, early education, and child abuse prevention and intervention.
One Place will use the grant to increase organizational capacity to help achieve long-range goals of expanding mental health services for children and building a new facility for our permanent home. More than 1,900 children in the county are assessed for abuse and neglect each year. The proposed new facility will provide One Place with additional space to house all programs and services and the ability to serve additional child victims of physical and sexual abuse with on-site medical and forensic interviews. “With the continued shifts in funding opportunities, this award comes at a great time for us,” said Dawn Rochelle, Chief Executive Officer at One Place. “The needs of children and families continue to grow.”
For many years, Bank of America has worked with nonprofit partners across Coastal NC to help drive economic opportunity and upward mobility. Through direct action and investment, Bank of America is focused on creating opportunity in the areas of health, jobs/training/reskilling/up-skilling, small business support, and affordable housing, as these are areas where systemic, long-term gaps have existed and where significant change is required to achieve sustainable progress. “We admire the work that One Place is doing to elevate outcomes for local Onslow County families and we hope this grant will help towards that mission,” said Jennie Jackson, Market Executive with Bank of America.
